Profile of the Dean of the Graduate School

Dr. Herbert Kwabla Dei is the Dean of UDS Graduate School. He was born in 1962 at Mafi-Kebegodo in the Volta Region. He obtained B.Sc. (Honours) in Agriculture and Diploma in Education in 1992 from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana; M.Sc. (Animal Nutrition) in 1998 from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana; and Ph.D. (Poultry Nutrition) in 2008 from Harper Adams University College, Newport, UK. He started teaching in the Ghana Education Service in 1992 as a Superintendent of Education and rose to the rank of Senior Superintendent in 1994. He joined the University for Development Studies, Tamale as a Senior Research Assistant and later as a Lecturer in 1999.

He was promoted as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Animal Science in 2008 and served as the Head of Department between 2008 and 2012. He was appointed as Dean of Graduate School with effect from January 2013.

He is Fulbright Senior African Research Scholar. He has published extensively in reputable journals as well as presented papers at both local and international conferences. He is a member of several professional associations including the World's Poultry Science Association and Ghana Society of Animal Production. He is presently the Vice-President of University Teachers Association of Ghana (UDS Branch).
