Vacancy Announcement - Principal, Nyankpala Campus, University for Development Studies

The University for Development Studies, Tamale, invites applications from suitably qualified academics for appointment of a Principal for the following University Campus:

  1. Nyankpala Campus

A. THE POSITION

The Nyankpala Campus Principal shall be the administrative and academic head of the Campus.

The Campus Principal of Nyankpala Campus is accountable to the Vice Chancellor for providing leadership to the Campus as well as maintaining and promoting the campus's efficiency and good order in accordance with the policies and procedures prescribed by the Law and Statutes or as determined from time to time by the Council, the Academic Board, and the Campus Board.

The person appointed as Nyankpala Campus Principal shall hold office for a term of four (4) years and is eligible for re-appointment for another term of four (4) years only or part thereof if the statutory retirement age may not permit full 4-year second term. 

B. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Applicants must possess:

  1. Must have held several managerial positions in the University including Dean of Faculty/School, Director, Head of Department etc.
  2. Must have served the University for an appreciable number of years.
  3. Must be able to work for a minimum of four (4) years before attaining the statutory retirement age of sixty (60) years.

C. THE APPLICANT

In addition, the ideal candidate must:

  1. Must be of Professorial rank at a recognised university or analogous Institution.
  2. Be eligible to serve a full four (4) year term before attaining the statutory retirement age of sixty (60) years.

D. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Principal of Nyankpala Campus:

  1. The Campus Principal of Nyankpala Campus is accountable to the Vice Chancellor for providing leadership to the Campus as well as maintaining and promoting efficiency and good order on the Campus in accordance with the policies and procedures prescribed by the Law and Statutes or as determined from time to time by the Council, the Academic Board, and the Campus Board; 
  2. The Nyankpala Campus Principal shall, on a trimester basis, present a report on the status of the Campus to the Vice-Chancellor; 
  3. Maintain and promote the efficiency and good order of the Campus in accordance with policies and procedures prescribed by Law and the Statutes or as may be determined by the Council.
  4. Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Vice-Chancellor from time to time.

E. TERMS OF APPOINTMENT

The appointment shall be for an initial four (4) year term and may be renewed for one additional consecutive term only.

F. MODE OF APPLICATION

  2. Print and submit three (3) copies of the completed application summary to the Office of the Registrar, together with:
    1. A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae
    2. Copies of academic and professional certificates
    3. A brief vision statement (not exceeding two pages) outlining strategic priorities for the growth and development of the Campus
  3. Provide the names, postal addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses of three (3) referees, who should be requested to submit confidential reports directly to:
