Background

Alhassan Andani (PhD) is an Applied Agricultural Economist by training with a good background in Economics. He is a Senior Lecturer and the Head of Department of the Department of Food Security and Climate Change and was recently transferred from the Mathematics Department of the erstwhile University for Development Studies’ (UDS) satellite campus in Navrongo. Dr. Andani has over 10 years’ experience in teaching undergraduate courses; including Economic Growth and Development, Microeconomic Theory, Public Finance, Labour Economics, Econometric Theory, Basic Environmental and Health Economics, among others with UDS. Dr. Andani has conducted extensive research in areas of food security, rural development and rural finance. His current research exploits are centred on sustainable food crop production; food and nutrition security as well as rural poverty and livelihood strategies. Dr. Andani is an external Examiner to the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) of the University of Ghana. He has a long period of experience working with civil society organizations The Ghanaian Danish Communities Association (GDCA) and Ibis West Africa in the areas of community development and complementary education for deprived rural communities. He is a member of the Ghana Association of Agricultural Economists (GAAE) and a research fellow of the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC).
