Dr. Hypolite  Bayor

Background

Hypolite Bayor (PhD) has a PhD in Plant Science (Reading, UK), MSc in Tree Improvement (Thunder Bay, Canada) and B.Sc. in Natural Resources Management (Kumasi, Ghana). He is presently a Senior Lecturer and the Head of Department for the Department of Horticulture. He has over 20 years of experience in teaching and researcher in the University for Development Studies. He teaches and supervises both undergraduate and postgraduate courses as well as being involved in community services. His research areas include studies in the geographic variation of indigenous fruit trees and vegetables, examining the effect of climate change on the potential distribution of indigenous trees and vegetables, the effects of data quality issues (such as biased sampling, small sample sizes, and grid sizes) on accuracy of species distribution models, and experimental designs and analysis. Some of the courses taught include experimental design and analysis, breeding of horticultural crops and forest mensuration. He has also carried out training for farmers in plant propagation techniques. Dr Bayor has collaborated with both local and international agencies including consultancy services in areas of survey design, implementation, data collection, management, and analysis. He has held some positions in the university including Head of Department and Faculty examinations officer. He has also served on boards and committees. He has published several articles in peer reviewed journals.
