Background

Joseph Kwowura Kwodaga (PhD) is a lecturer at the Department of Crop Science, University for Development Studies. He joined the Department as a lecturer in November 2020. He is currently the Departmental Quality Assurance Officer. Dr. Kwodaga holds a BSc in Applied Biology from the University for Development Studies, MPhil in Botany (Specialization in Mycology, Plant Pathology and Soil Microbiology) and a PhD in Crop Science (Option Plant Pathology) from the University for Development Studies. His research interests include Plant disease diagnosis and sustainable control methods using natural products such as plant extracts, effect of synthetic pesticides on soil health and soil fungal diversity, and post-harvest pathology. He is currently working on the management of post-harvest losses of sweet potato resulting from root rot with natural products, and also assessing the impact of herbicides on yam tuber rot. He has taught; Introduction to Plant Pathology, Introductory Entomology, and Methods in Plant Pathology at the undergraduate level, and at the postgraduate level; Plant Disease and Control, Plant Bacteriology and Bacteria Diseases, Molecular Plant Pathology, Techniques in Plant Pathology, and Seed Pathology. He is a reviewer of several journals including African Journal of Biotechnology, African Journal of Plant Science, Archives of Phytopathology and Plant Protection, Journal of Food and Agricultural Science, Molecular Plant Pathology and Net Journal of Agricultural Science.
