Delegation From Tolon Naa’s Palace Pays Courtesy Call on UDS Vice Chancellor

The Chief of the Tolon traditional area, within the Tolon-Kumbungu constituency of the Northern Region, Alhaji Rtd Major Sulemana Abukari sent a delegation to, on his behalf, congratulate the Vice-Chancellor of UDS, Professor Seidu Al-hassan on his appointment to the high office of Vice Chancellor of the University for Development Studies.

The delegation was led by the Chief’s Kpanalana, Alhaji Muniru, with three other elders from the Tolon Naa’s palace. According to the Kpanalana, the Tolon Naa’s message to the Vice-Chancellor was that he should be patient at all times because he will be dealing with very many people from different backgrounds. He stated that the Chief was very happy with his achievements so far, adding that the Vice-Chancellor was carrying the weight of Dagbon and the country at large on his shoulder; hence, he must be ready to endure the challenges that come with the title.

The Vice Chancellor expressed his profound gratitude for the visit. He thanked the delegation and asked them to extend his regards to the Chief. He gave them an overview of the University’s current population status on both students and staff. Professor Seidu Al-hassan added that as part of the University’s core mandate, it produces students to become successful people in the future, who will contribute positively wherever they find themselves. He also stated that the University is home to diverse people across the country.

He described the Chief of Tolon as a man with a great personality and integrity, and being in his company is an experience he will always cherish.

Amongst the Tolon Naa’s delegation was a staff of the University’s Mr. Iddi Abdul Rahman, who was recently enskinned by the Chief of Tolon as the Tolon Dimal-Naa. The Vice Chancellor congratulated him on his new position and wished him a lot of successes in the future.
