The University for Development Studies (UDS) has welcomed a delegation of three distinguished academics from Inönü University, Türkiye, under the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching Programme.
The visiting scholars are Prof. Dr. Ekrem Atalan of the Department of Molecular Biology, Prof. Dr. İsmail Özdemir of the Department of Chemistry, and Dr. Muhammed Dündar of the Department of Molecular Biology, Section of Genetics.
The visit, which spans from April 20 to 24, 2026, is aimed at strengthening academic exchange and deepening institutional collaboration between UDS and Inönü University. As part of their engagement, the visiting academics are scheduled to deliver a series of lectures and interactive sessions with staff and students of the Faculty of Physical Sciences and the Faculty of Biosciences.

Their lectures will focus on key scientific areas, including chemistry, biotechnology, and molecular biology, offering valuable opportunities for knowledge sharing and intellectual engagement within the University community.
As part of their official itinerary, the delegation paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Seidu Alhassan, accompanied by the Deputy Director of the Directorate of International Relations and Advancement (DIRA). The meeting provided an avenue to discuss prospects for sustained collaboration, joint research initiatives, and future academic exchanges.
Welcoming the delegation, Prof. Seidu Alhassan expressed the University’s appreciation for the partnership and emphasised the importance of such exchanges in advancing academic excellence.
“We are delighted to host our colleagues from Inönü University under the Erasmus+ framework. Collaborations of this nature are essential in broadening the horizons of our students and staff, while also positioning UDS as a globally competitive institution committed to research, innovation, and impactful teaching,” he stated.
He further underscored the University’s openness to deeper collaboration, particularly in joint research and faculty exchange programmes.
“We look forward to building long-term partnerships that will not only enhance knowledge transfer but also contribute meaningfully to solving real-world development challenges,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Prof. Dr. Ekrem Atalan commended UDS for its warm reception and expressed enthusiasm about the academic engagements lined up during the visit.
