The University for Development Studies, Tamale, invites applications from suitably qualified academics for appointment as Dean for Faculty of Physical Sciences.

A. THE POSITION

The Dean is the academic and administrative head of the School/ Faculty, and shall provide visionary leadership to advance academic quality, research productivity and community service in alignment with the University’s strategic priorities.

B. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Applicants must possess:

1. A PhD in a relevant field obtained from a recognized Institution.
2. Substantial post-qualification experience spanning teaching, research, and professional practice within a recognized University.
3. Demonstrated leadership experience in a senior Academic and Administrative role in the relevant field/ background.
4. Proven expertise in resource mobilization, financial management, grant acquisition, and partnership development.
5. Strong evidence of stakeholder engagement with regulatory bodies, professional associations, government agencies, and international partners

C. THE APPLICANT 

In addition, the ideal candidate must:

1. Hold a Professorial rank at a recognized university or analogous Institution.
2. Be eligible to serve a full three (3) year term before attaining the statutory retirement age of sixty (60) years.

D. TERMS OF APPOINTMENT

The appointment shall be for an initial three (3) year term and may be renewed for one additional consecutive term only.
A person shall not be re-appointed for a third term of office unless at least three (3) years have elapsed since he/she last held that position;
